The Happy House. A labor of love where vows were taken and new life began. Our family designed, managed, and personally rebuilt nearly every square inch of this little house from the foundation to the roof. As soon as we were done with the main house, we embarked on a 300 sf office/master suite/guest cottage off the back. Taking cues from the front house, this big new sister in the back blends its contemporary lines into the more traditional form of the main house making it a seamless transition from old to new. Happiness is a connection to the outdoors. The new addition cradles the covered deck and screened porch and creates a private outdoor nest to live, work and play in. Opening up to the back yard and enticing you outside, the sliding doors provide light and views between the two parts of this home.

Home away from home, this house needed a complete interior remodel update to match its beautiful lot and trees. The owner wanted a place to play and work while in town, and a short term rental while he was away that catered to professionals wanting a relaxing, but engaging live/work space. Living and Dining room were opened to create a continuous space around a smaller more efficient kitchen. Wall with pass through window reconciles the need for structural support with the desire for an open feel. The addition of sliding doors to the back yard helps bring in the view in the living space and master bedroom. Minor plan modifications help modernize the space along with fresh clean finishes.

In anticipation of the new little addition to their family, this couple sought a kid-friendly extension of their living space into the back yard. Updates to the kitchen and living room as well as a new wood deck and outdoor kitchen helped to create a more modern feel without adding too much square footage on a constrained lot. Additional square footage and a new flow was found for the canine members of the family through a new mudroom that took the place of existing storage spaces.

The owner required a perfect little seamless addition to her well maintained home to provide more space for the grand kids. Abundant light and a coffered ceiling create an airy space that feels larger than it is. Nicely sited with views to the back yard, this addition reused some of the existing windows and matched exterior stone, siding and floor tile flawlessly.

Changing needs for a family determined to remain in their wonderful neighborhood prompted this remodel and master suite addition. Working over the top of an existing garage and around a deeply sloping site with beautiful heritage trees, this project worked with existing constraints to maximize views to the canopy. Minor, but astute modifications to the original floorplan helped to open up and modernize the existing bathrooms and entry as well as create a new laundry and dining space. Textural changes in material help to blend existing with new in the third phase of renovations on this home.

This luxury penthouse combined 6 units and included a raised ceiling on the top floor of a 30 story downtown condo building designed by STG Design. The team collaborated with the owners, base building architects, multiple engineering teams, an acoustical design consultant and two builder teams to redefine luxury downtown living.
Computer modeling combined with careful re-routing of base building systems allowed for a playful flow of spaces filled with light and intrigue. The vast living spaces are modulated by recessed, illuminated ceiling coves and gentle material changes on vertical surfaces.
The project featured custom designed and fabricated millwork throughout as well as wall paneling to create rhythm along the hallways. The master suite features a private balcony and a spacious bath with heated stone floor. Engineered speaker systems offer a customized audio experience throughout the space. The unit also features two additional guest suites, a study, office, media room, bar, and laundry room.
In addition, the entire space has been engineered to be acoustically isolated from its surroundings, providing a real oasis of calm, quiet luxury in the midst of this dynamic city.
